Medieval-themed Book by myceliae Medieval-themed Book by myceliae
FINALLY, i finish this. It seems like I've been working on it constantly for a week. Which *thinks* might very well be the case.

Springback, suede, linen, linen thread, gold and purple marbled paper, 4 silver forks, nails, cartridge paper, blood, sweat, love.
Hand-dyed everything (linen and thread, suede, paper.)

I've wanted to do something like this for a while, but I've gotten a bit sidetracked with commissions. Now i'm finally leaving the country and going back home to Aus, I figured it was time I used up as much of my materials here as possible. Originally, it was a for sale book, but it soon turned into a making a living can go to hell, it is MINE, MIIIIIIIIINE book.

All of the metal work was done by hand too. Hand drill, hammer, plyers, uber-clamp. Oh, to get back home and raid my fathers' workshop.

It has very much in common with the Red Book that is needed for our film. Unfortunately, you are toooo far for joining our crew. :(

not too impressed with the cutlery handle design but the rest of the work is beautiful and the idea behind the clasps is cool
but i think i will make it in wrought iron and custom make them (as i do know how to)
i think it would just add a classier look to the whole design
but this is just my opinion
and i still do love the rest of the work

This book is so beautiful! I love everything about it from the cream coloured pages to the headbands to the red linnen to the raised chords! The silver fork handles are especially great! I love them.
And I love how thick and heavy the book is. It looks so solid!
This is an excellent work of craft and art.

Utterly amazing. As someone who has worked in silver I immediatly wondered how you did the metal work. Even so you have my deep admiration. You are a natural born artist!

Um.

You are my new Art Hero.

I want to hug this book.

I can't believe your skills, this is so amazing. This is a true artisian craft...I can't believe how beautiful this is. Your attention to detail is fantastic...It really does look like it just fell out of the Farie Realm, or some Other universe... I seriously am impressed and awed by your skill...It makes me think you must really love this craft to make such an excellent peice.

...

I just can´t say enough good things about this peice, or quit looking at it.

Just WOW!!!

I have been pondering starting a bound book very much like yours but have been putting it off this gives me ideas.

It does have a very Medieval feel too it book binders and scribes of yore would be tickeled. I do hope you do some nice Calligraphy and Illuminations in it to use such a wonderous book.
